Christian Kmeir is a Lebanese-Canadian engineer and indirect owner of GET Group. The latter enterprise provides a comprehensive range of design and construction services, including infrastructure, facilities management, marine works, landscaping, and more.
Professorship
With extensive experience of managing quality control, works procedures, and directing teams in multi-site projects, Professor Kmeir is adept at organizing and conducting coordination meetings with acting authorities and contractors, liaising with the public, and providing technical assistance around all hydraulics issues. An expert in environmental engineering, Professor Kmeir was previously a professor at the Université Saint-Joseph – Ecole supérieure d’ingénieurs de Beyrouth. This institution is a French-speaking center of research and teaching, offering high-quality training in several important branches of engineering. Established over a century ago, the school remains a beacon of science and elite education in the field of engineering in Lebanon, the wider region, and the world and continues to expand its specialties to meet changing demands.
Professional Career
Professor Kmeir has held positions at many prestigious companies, where he has worked on groundbreaking projects to create vital infrastructure and landmark buildings. From 1994 to 2000, he worked for ENB Ltd Consulting Engineers in Lebanon as a project manager. In this role, he oversaw the National Emergency Recovery Program, which involved the rehabilitation of wastewater and water supply facilities in North and Mount Lebanon. As well as the rehabilitation and drilling of 40 boreholes and the construction and rehabilitation of 40 water treatment plants and stations, the project saw the construction of around 100 kilometers of sewer lines and the rehabilitation of two wastewater pumping stations and 190 water towers and reservoirs.
GET Group Projects
Projects that GET Group has successfully completed to date include the restoration of Sheikh Abdel Aziz Bin Ahmad Palace at Al Rayyan, the design and construction of Bhersaf Palace in Lebanon, the rehabilitation and decoration of Al Rayyan Palace in Aley, Lebanon, and the design and construction of Al Bidaa Hotel in Souq Wakif. The latter incorporates 17 rooms and 15 suites, with details and decorations inspired by Qatari culture.
In 2013, GET Group spearheaded the design and building of Al Messila Resort & VIP Spa at Al Rayan, an ambitious project covering a vast 132,000 square-meter area. The resort has earned an entry in the Michelin Guide; its villas, rooms, and suites are contemporary in style, though influenced by Middle Eastern design and architecture. In addition to wellness centers, visitors will also find several high-end restaurants within the resort.
